Critics Consensus

Arthur wastes its big-name voice talent on a predictable script and substandard CG animation.

In a year when a lot of big-screen animation felt like it came rolling off the video game assembly line, a little originality goes a long way.

Here is an overproduced, oversugared semi-animated children's fantasy adventure from Luc Besson that made me want to cringe into my plush seat, never to re-emerge.

Cute enough and cool enough at times that I would take all four of my nephews to see it, but minimal cute and cool isn't enough for the long haul.

Strangely, for a feature animation aimed at a younger audience, Arthur and the Invisibles is most entertaining in its live-action sequences.

Unquestionably original, watching Arthur and the Invisibles frequently feels like sitting in on an elaborate video game.

An ambitious fantasy that lands right in the middle between a fun adventure and a missed opportunity. The blend of live-action and 3D animation is interesting, and the design of the underground world of the Minimoys shows a lot of visual creativity for its time. However, the film loses major steam due to a generic plot, packed with clichés and jokes that often miss the mark. While it’s not a complete disaster and works well enough to entertain young audiences, it lacks the true charm and magic to be memorable. A thoroughly average movie.

I can't lie, I might have rated it this high purely for nostalgia sake and the villain was fun to watch.

Loved this movie when I was young, I just found the world and story so interesting and I always wished to live like them and switch between two worlds like them. People gave this movie quite some rough reviews but I underestand that it's not for everybody! But it will always have a special place in my heart
