Luca F @LucaF 2 days ago Should be spoken about as much as Rear Window, Vertigo, Psycho... Hitchcock is at the top of his game here, and he utilizes his three stars to perfection. Espionage was a favorite topic of Mr. Hitchcock. Even though this is an earlier Hitchcock film, he doesn't disappoint with his skill of milking every second of intrigue and suspense from the story. In this 1946 classic, he had already mastered the multi-focus zoom lens. In one scene, the camera zooms from a high second-story wide-angle view of a ballroom full of guests all the way down to a very tight shot of a key grasped in the hand of Ms. Bergman... pure genius. Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman provide great chemistry with a torrid love between them that has to be buried in support of their spy agency mission. As always, Alfred hitchcock hits the entertainment bullseye. See more Curtis M @RT24102748 Mar 12, 2026 There’s an undeniable magnetism to Ingrid Bergman whenever she appears on screen, and "Notorious" was no exception—her presence here is utterly captivating. Cary Grant also delivers a standout performance. The chemistry between Bergman and Grant here was electrifying and absolutely fascinating to watch. See more Cory S @Gator78 Jan 24, 2026 This is one of those old Hollywood classics that feels classy even when it’s being a little messy. Cary Grant is doing peak Cary Grant charm, Ingrid Bergman is carrying a ton of emotional weight, and Claude Rains quietly steals scenes by just looking tired and suspicious. The bones of the movie are great: romance, espionage, betrayal, all simmering in that slow burn Hitchcock style. That said, the pacing definitely shows its age. There are stretches where it feels like the movie is politely asking you to be patient while it rearranges its trench coat. Some of the emotional beats hit hard, especially Bergman’s, but the romance can feel more frustrating than swoony, like everyone involved desperately needs better communication skills. Still, there’s a lot to admire here. The tension builds well, the vibes are immaculate, and you can see why it’s considered important. I didn’t fall in love with it, but I respected it the whole time. Solid, stylish, and a little distant. See more T M @RT55749265 Nov 11, 2025 This is more about sexual jealousy than uranium minerals. Cary and Ingrid make a strange couple, Cary's character being particularly obtuse and not very professional to be honest . Some nice Hitch camera placements but it's not my favourite.
