A warm and honest story about motherhood, identity, and letting go. Abril finds its strength in its characters, its natural humor, and a beautifully lived-in San José. Hernán Jiménez delivers his most mature film yet. Go to Full Review

See more Daniel R @DaisukeReds Oct 2, 2026 The dysfunctional relationship between a mom and her daughter comes to an end. A mature, serious film about flawed people.. written by a comedian. There was potential in an imperfect mother, and in the idea of a woman being more than the role she spent years fulfilling. But the film confuses circumstances with characterization. The more interesting question arises from the writer's perspective of his mother.. what seems to be more judgmental than empathetic, especially given his self-portrayal as the successful, desirable person others gravitate toward. Mocking her or trying to see her as a person rather than a mother dealt a bad hand? Visually, the film does a lot with very little. But craft can't compensate for a lack of vision. Having no money isn't an excuse for having nothing to say. Not a waste of time.. but not a memorable film worth talking about. Personally, I try not to confuse mediocrity with something worth celebrating simply because of circumstance and origin. See more Mar V @RT01594018 Oct 2, 2026 La amé, reí, lloré, lloré y lloré. See more Xenia V @RT23400088 Oct 2, 2026 Me encantó esta película. 🇨🇷🎬 See more Read all reviews
