Set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita is found in the scrapyard of Iron City by Ido, a compassionate cyber-doctor who takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. Alita: Battle Angel attempts to tell a story that is no doubt complex, but struggles to parse it in a way that offers a clear focus and progress. Yet it’s easy to lose sight of this when you’re enjoying supremely slick fight sequences.

I love the world and the world-builging, if some of the characterizations are a little too broad for my taste and the plot doesn't go quite where I expected it to, but the violence and creativity on display (if you can call the tech dystopia that we're all hurtling towards creative anymore) leaves me wishing they would make a sequel based on the batshit crazy manga sequels.
