American Sweatshop is a cool and riveting thriller that gets under your skin, creeping up your spine to bend your brain. Like the internet videos that are its grim inspiration, it's not easy to shake off the chills American Sweatshop triggers. Go to Full Review

As often as this film frustrated me regarding Nemeth’s shallow script, I was impressed by the choices made by Lili Reinhart, who plays Daisy’s numbness not as apathy, but something fueled by frustration and anger. Go to Full Review

American Sweatshop feels like it’s casually swiping through its themes, never coalescing into a feed as unsettling as the real thing. Go to Full Review

The screenplay bends to slightly absurd dialogue and character choices that feel half-baked: "What the fuck is wrong with you?" demands Daisy’s boss, brandishing a printout of a video of a woman jumping from a 20-storey building. Go to Full Review

A tense (and scarily topical) look at the depravity of the Internet. The film thankfully subverts the inclination to become a female 8MM, instead focusing on the devastating mental impact of content moderation. Reinhart is excellent in an understated perf Go to Full Review

TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 3d American Sweatshop feels like a film loaded with potential that never fully delivers on what it promises. From the premise alone, it seems poised to become an intense, gripping thriller, but it repeatedly pulls back just as it should be escalating. Lili Reinhardt gives a technically solid performance, bringing presence and effort to the screen. However, the issue isn’t her acting but the character itself, which feels underwritten and emotionally incomplete, leaving her arc less impactful than it should be. The screenplay struggles with cohesion. Several moments feel disconnected or underdeveloped, causing the narrative to lose momentum and making it harder to stay invested as the film progresses. Direction also plays a role in the disconnect. Instead of leaning into the darker, more thrilling path the setup suggests, the film veers toward self-discovery, a choice that ultimately weakens the tension. While there are flashes of creativity and ambition, they’re too inconsistent! The pace was slow and ending too ambiguous for me. See more Jon-David D. @JabberM Jan 18 Slow and Pointless, waste of my time See more William R. @MileHighMilk Jan 8 Very surface level plot. Mid-level suspense. Lackluster ending. See more Avindu G Jan 4 American Sweatshop presents us the dark realities of modern slavery. How mechanized humans pick-up the slack for their robotic descendants. This tale is another needle jab at the bubble. Symbolical visuals and the decent acting by the cast to portray how different personalities cope with the pressures is excellent. It's a haunting depiction of what the first responders of the tech industry has to come across. Greatly entertaining. See more Read all reviews
