Five years after helping to catch and kill a serial killer known as Uncle Eddie, NYPD Detective Stan Aubray (Willem Dafoe) is an alcoholic wreck, demoted to teaching duty. When a stockbroker is found murdered in the same manner as Uncle Eddie's victims, Stan is assigned to work the case with Detective Carl Uffner (Scott Speedman). At every new crime scene, artistically arranged murders offer tantalizing clues pointing to the old cases. And, as the bodies pile up, Stan becomes the main suspect.

Critics Consensus

Thin on plot but heavy on academic references, Anamorph proves more derivative than terrifying.

O roteiro carregado de clichs desperdia o que at poderia ser uma premissa interessante, ao passo que os esforos estilsticos de Miller soam patticos, como uma imitao barata dos trabalhos de David Fincher. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Feb 13, 2020 I really liked it. It is unique and surreal. It's one of my favorite crime-drama movies. See more Nov 12, 2017 Perhaps if you view this film from a specific angle you might see a good film, but from where I was standing it fell flat. If it weren't for Willem bringing some gravitas to the proceedings then I don't think I'd have even made it to the end See more Aug 22, 2014 Unlike Silence of the Lambs or Se7en Anamorph lacks urgency but delivers a movie that is more of an art piece, literally. In that sense it's more like Christopher Nolan's Prestige. The film also manages to take the widely accepted cliches of the detective thriller genera and turn them around. See more Feb 3, 2014 Dark. Slow. Shallow and disjointed narrative. Intriguing but unsatisfying. You don't share the main characters obsession. There's no point to the whole mystery. Big waste of time. See more Nov 25, 2013 Anamorph: the truth depends on where you stand--wonderfully dark!! See more Apr 25, 2013 A film whose creative plot would have been better executed in other hands. Enjoyable, but ultimately a let-down when it came to tying up its story. A weaker Seven, essentially. See more Read all reviews
