Applesauce mixes genres (here, a revenge fantasy meets a relationship drama) to create a brightly amusing catalogue of stupid human tricks that doesn't fit neatly into any niche.

Multi-hyphenate Onur Tukel returns to the Tribeca fest with his seventh feature, a comedy so dark that only minimal humor alleviates the film's dour perspective.

Tukel invests most of his narrative making terrible people objects of ridicule, with a final punchline suggesting that, in the game of life, everyone's stuck on one side or the other of the same bad joke.

But I can't help but feel that his central message of the importance of empathy gets muddled by the slapdash storytelling.

Applesauce is an uncomfortable watch that is blisteringly funny.

Applesauce 2015. It's a little slow and I found it only a little funny but the style of director, Onur Tukel, is so pleasantly unique that I still enjoyed it & will keep an eye out for his future projects. I absolutely loved Tukel's Summer Of Blood 2014. Applesauce is still fun enough to make it a horror comedy that I recommend watching. It's on Shudder TV now!

This movie seems like it was written by a stoner. More than moderately funny to the non-high person, but at the same time, it's twisted, uneven, and strange.

I liked everything about this movie except how much of a complete slut the main characters wife is.
