Critics Consensus

Assassin's Creed is arguably better made (and certainly better cast) than most video game adaptations; unfortunately, the CGI-fueled end result still is still a joylessly overplotted slog.

Although this story of multiple timelines provides some interesting moments, the cryptic, excessive, often extremely muffled dialogue makes the film excruciatingly hard to follow.

One is left wracking brains as to why these talented people wasted so much time. It's not even the best videogame adaptation released in the past 12 months. Come back, Angry Birds. All is forgiven.

I had fun with “Assassin’s Creed” particularly with its wildly unique (and admittedly wacky) story. It also doesn’t hurt to have this level of acting talent in front of the camera.

Kurzel's brooding, internalized work often appears through a literal or figurative haze, which doesn't help matters.

It was well acted and the action was very fun. But the dialogue was hot garbage.

As an Assassin's Creed fan since 2009 I can tell you that this movie is pretty decent, yes is not perfect I may change most of the present timeline scenes for more of the animus with the assassin Aguilar, which it looks pretty cool btw. This movie gives an amazing cast with good interpretations. The Assassin's fighting movements are impressive and the leap of faith scene is just amazing, yet is incomplete and that's almost a crime for this franchise, I really wanted a continuation for Callum/Aguilar story, sadly is not going to happen... good movie for AC fans and newcomers is entertained and with great visuals, love the Spanish Assassin's and their scenes are few but pretty great. Worth to watch it at least one time.

Um desastre pretensioso que ignora o jogo. Passa demasiado tempo no presente aborrecido, tem uma ação confusa cheia de fumo e um argumento incompreensível. Uma autêntica tortura visual.

10 years late and I didnt miss much. I don't think this movie fails because of the action or acting, which are both great for what they are, but rather because of the nature of the game. The movie bounces between two time periods, trying to exposition dump just for things to make some sense. I played the games and thank goodness for that, but would recommend just replaying Ezio's story over watching this one.
