By the time we get to the final, borderline ludicrous moments in Big Stone Gap, I wasn't even surprised by the overwhelming sappiness of it all.

The movie ambles along amiably enough for a while; it's better if you are a fan of one or more members of the cast.

Trigiani's heart is in the right place and the film is very obviously a labor of love that isn't very heavy on plot but makes you feel like you're right at home.

If you really want an unpretentious, sweet romantic movie, you deserve a whole hell of a lot better than Big Stone Gap.

Not the most sophisticated plot, but it is sweet story. It is also a good example of the power of friendship even when people have radically different backgrounds.
