Critics Consensus

Insubstantial yet charming, Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss tells a love story that's as rooted in classic Hollywood as it is in timely themes.

Handsomely staged and amiably played, but this eye candy is essentially a cinematic snack. Go to Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety Mar 26, 2009
You'd think a movie whose sole point is basically "Don't fall head-over-heels on the basis of good looks alone" would avoid being as swell-looking but substance-depleted as "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss." Go to Full Review Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times Feb 14, 2001
O'Haver makes his film a witty homage to vintage screen romance while keeping its perspective on the here and now. Go to Full Review Antonia Quirke Independent on Sunday Nov 28, 2017

Robert P @Superbad Oct 1, 2026 Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss = a *4* star Movie! See more Jul 5, 2020 Sweet romantic comedy of a guy trying to find love in LA, acted beautifully by Sean Hayes and company. See more Jun 10, 2019 This is how it works. Very realistic, whether in Hollywood or not. See more Jul 16, 2013 The title card says "A Tommy O'Haver trifle" and that's pretty much correct. There is nothing of consequence in the film, but he really knows how to put a film together and Sean Hayes, pre "Will & Grace", is a charmer. Extra points awarded for featuring Richard Ganoung, from "Parting Glances". See more Jul 21, 2011 Fluff... but fun and well made. Nice homages to classic 1930's film (glorious black and white!), and a refreshing density in examining relationships beyond the physical - beyond promiscuous attraction - regardless of the gender of the couple involved. Just re-added it to the collection as a replacement for my stolen copy. See more Mar 28, 2011 Great performance by Sean, it's a cute movie :) See more Read all reviews
