Benjamin G @BxDxGx Aug 4 I want to say this is a decent sequel to the original, the original being a film that really stood out well in the spy thriller world, which makes it a difficult act to follow. It has the same shooting style and charm as the original i.e. when he tells Landy, who is trying to find him, that he wants to meet with Nikki "standing beside her" letting them know that he’s watching them in a not-so subtle way. However, I would argue that killing off his girlfriend (Marie) early on the film took away a major element. It feels more hollow without her in it. The movie still holds up well enough but the chemistry they exchange in the first film was a main aspect that made the original so engaging, turning this sequel into a more standard spy thriller that fortunately maintains most of the same elements that sparked the whole series and still holds up today (2026). See more Chris S @Janomi Jul 28 Paul Greengrass gives the movie an urgent, documentary-style energy. The handheld camerawork and constant movement make the movie feel intense. Matt Damon deepens Bourne’s guilt and trauma here. He is no longer just trying to survive; he is dealing with memory, loss, grief, and the consequences of who he used to be. Joan Allen is a great addition as Pamela Landy, a sharp investigator who takes Bourne seriously and makes the CIA side more interesting. The Berlin and Moscow material gives the film a strong international thriller feel, and the Moscow car chase is especially intense and punishing. Marie’s exit is painful and abrupt, making the movie colder, but it gives Bourne’s guilt real weight. The shaky style can be hard to follow, but the film is gripping and emotionally stronger than expected. Nowadays to much technology has just ruined so much of what we used to see before. Still a good movie many years later.
