The two main characters are beautifully portrayed by seasoned actor Daid Morse and a newcomer to film, Mexican actress Jacklyn Bejarano. The film slowly reveals the complexity of each character within the context of their developing understanding of one another. Further tension is provided by the rancher's son, a very believable border patrol agent with dilemmas of his own, well played by actor Bill Keck. At the same time, it offers a tenderness at the heart of the story that felt as true -and as difficult -as most human enterprises are. It felt real. There was nothing trivial to distract from the struggle here to forgive, to understand the unexplainable, to deeply connect with another human being. For me, it was like a long poem.
