Adam Jones, former chef at one of Paris' premier restaurants, wants to turn his life around. After destroying his career with drug use and a manic drive for perfection, he is given another chance to fulfil his dreams of gaining three Michelin Stars. Returning to London, he assembles a crew to create one of the finest restaurants ever and gain the recognition he has always wanted in the culinary world, but the journey is certainly not an easy one.

Critics Consensus

Burnt offers a few spoonfuls of compelling culinary drama, but they're lost in a watery goulash dominated by an unsavory main character and overdone clichés.

It's all too familiar, too rudimentary, and while the kitchen they're working in is top-of-the-line the meal they ultimately prepare isn't that much better than a Denny's breakfast left under the heat lamps a few minutes too many.

Burnt is, to be clear, not a good movie. It is in fact a pretty terrible movie.

Mostly, I thought Burnt was ridiculous. And yet I cannot tell a lie. Its familiar beats, comely cast, and lively kitchen montages entertained me.

Due entirely to his talent and appeal, two hours of Bradley-being-Bradley works and the film will rightly entertain at an acceptable superficial level.

Despite all of the beautiful cuisine and energetic kitchen chaos, “Burnt” is simply a half-baked redemption tale.

Bradley Cooper plays a deplorable chef in a fatty, undercooked film.

While Burnt didn't exactly win over the critics upon its release, it deserves a fairer shake if you approach it with the right mindset. If you are looking for an accessible, high-energy introduction to the grueling world of high-intensity kitchens and the absolute obsession required to chase culinary perfection, this film is absolutely worth a watch.

I like movies about food and cooking, Mostly Martha was lovely and the American version with Catherine Zeta Jones was OK. 100 ft Journey was OK, but Burnt was predictable and a cliché with shouty chef throwing things about and a take off of Gordon Ramsey. Although I find haute cuisine nouvelle cuisine unappealing with a splot here and there with small portions at a ridiculous price. I do enjoy watching the food being prepared and how a brigade in a kitchen works. In real life so much food in this type of kitchen is wasted. I loved Cooper in Star, but this is not one of his best. The plot is predictable.

Good cast awful script and chopped up all over the place very dated for a 2015 film the characters motivations are impossible to get to grips with. Needed a car chase and some gun play

If you like shows like House M.D. or Elementary... Ignore the reviewers. You'll love this movie. I've been obsessed with it for years now. If spoilers weren't an issue I'd tell the lot of you exactly why. It's a good movie and a good story.
