Citizen Vigilante perhaps wants to be Michael Winner’s Death Wish or Don Siegel’s Dirty Harry or even Scorsese’s Taxi Driver. But these were films with, variously, measures of passion, style, wit, purpose, vision and competent production values.

CITIZEN VIGILANTE is built around an uncomfortable, dramatic question: what happens when the distance between law and perceived justice becomes so great that someone decides to fill that void himself? Legality and justice are not presented as synonyms.

This is a breath of fresh air compared to the slop that's been coming out of Hollywood these days, with an actually believable plotline and villains that address the massive problems Europe faces with migrant crime, as well as the people who excuse it and refuse to talk about it. There's some violence in it, but it's no worse than what you'd see in most other movies. However, it's not for everyone. If you're looking for escapism from politics, this is definitely not the movie for you.
