Even if you put all the Manic Pixie stuff aside, Clara is still a frustrating experience. Go to Full Review Ben Kenigsberg New York Times May 2, 2019
While the movie's morose mysticism is tolerable enough, once "Clara" starts arguing for following feelings instead of data, it puts on its own tinfoil hat. Go to Full Review Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter Apr 30, 2019
Bogged down in endless philosophical and scientific discussions filled with technical jargon about such subjects as "quantum entanglement," Clara forgets to have anything resembling a compelling plot. Or an original one. Go to Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com Mar 22, 2021

Clara is a small but perfectly played movie that deserves to be singled out for praise, for an intelligent storyline, for a genuine interest in science, and a romance that gives the film heart... Go to Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Feb 3, 2021

The push-and-pull between objectivity and intuition is interesting but overplayed to the point of exhaustion. The climax reaches for the stars, offering a hopeful note, that will strike some as poetic, others as the very definition of schmaltz. Go to Full Review Alex Hudson Exclaim! Jul 2, 2020

jr H @RT80262908 Sep 22, 2026 Sure it was Fantastical and connections and plot we're highly improbable but that's the way this world is and life. It engaged so many aspects of humanity: wonder, exploration, love, loss, unbelievable pain, and the unexpected mystery of the universe. I loved this show. See more Ken F @kenthelawyer Aug 13, 2026 This is sort of a formulaic movie and if you don’t figure out the main twist in the first 30 minutes, you’re not paying attention. That said, it’s a pretty good movie. The performances by the two main characters are very strong. It also draws you in emotionally and you care about them more than you either wanted or expected to. All in all, a surprisingly strong film. I recommend it highly. See more Paul K @loggy Jan 22, 2026 Being a space nerd, a dog lover, a believer in hard and dry science, I also know it's ok to to just feel. I loved it. See more Rantanplan w @RT30798732 Nov 16, 2025 If you like astronomy, if you were fascinated by SETI, if you are puzzled by quantum mechanics and the theory of relativity AND if you like romances, then this is your movie. Consider it the Forest Gump feel of indie movies See more Tony G @TonyGraham Jun 14, 2025 Contact but warmer and more softly paced, and with good science as well as good fiction.
