Critics Consensus

With its vivid stop-motion animation combined with Neil Gaiman's imaginative story, Coraline is a film that's both visually stunning and wondrously entertaining.

Entertaining, funny and surprisingly suspenseful a times, Coraline is the perfect movie for your little one...and for the child in all of us.

Coraline never stops taking artistic risks. I hope there's a brave enough audience out there willing to take the plunge.

Coraline seems to have grown into an allegory that it was never meant to be. I honestly can’t think of a better analogy for our current algorithm-driven existence that promises to give us just what we want

Compelling, beautiful, dark, funny, horrifying, and everything in between, Coraline should be recognised for what it is: one of animated cinema’s greatest offerings.

This film is truly one of the best features ever to incorporate 3D, as it works not only on a visual level (it looks fantastic) but also on a narrative and thematic one.

Though not 100% faithful to the book, the additions and substractions are very well justified.
