YIYI X @yiyi11 Aug 6, 2025 I heard about this film from Meryl's interview. And I am in Australia right now, never to that 'rural' area, but interested in such a tragedy, especially originating from the true story. As a viewer, the accident itself is so sad, so 'obvious'. But what makes it sadder is the people's reaction to this thing. At first, the couple receives attention, which seems not too bad to arouse people's attention to keep their child safe, especially in the wild. After some time, things seem to change. They constantly put their own thoughts on other people's personal things. They made a judgment and said their own advocate. I respect the decision that they want another child, although I can not understand. I never expected that Lindy would be tried as guilty. For me, it was so absurd. Lindy was released until new discoveries. The couple in real life divorced, and the case reopened in 2012. Recently, a Chinese doctor successfully saved the pregnant woman and gave birth to a girl, but had to perform the woman's hysterectomy to save her life. The doctor suffers from the bad treatment by the family of the husband, who want a son, as well as the public. And the doctor killed herself under the pressure. The language has power, so powerful. "How important innocent it is to the innocent people." See more Kesava Dharshan @Kesava Jun 19, 2024 Felt sorry that this happened in real life. As a parent, I was horrified by the events that unfolded on the screen, and realizing that they actually happened made it even more impactful. This is a tragic story portrayed on screen by talented actors who give it a sense of realism. I was also infuriated by how the public and the media twisted the story around and made the Chamberlains out to be the bad guys. That being said, the film is a little slow and repetitive, but this story will haunt my mind for a long time. See more Nov 12, 2023 A cry in the dark; is it a cry for help or crying wolf? Set in Australia this stars Sam Neil and Merlyl Streep directed by Fred Schepisi This is based on the true story of Michael and Lindy Chamberlain Their story shook the world; they had a baby girl but one night Lindy claims she was abducted while vacationing in the outback According to her a kangaroo took the infant but the authorities have no definitive proof so now rumors are circulating that Linda orchestrated the whole thing and murdered the child in cold blood She's then taken to trial with the media eating up every ounce of the scandal Way too long of a movie being more of a courtroom drama Yet Streep and Neil are committed in selling the drama See more sean G @Sean123456789 Sep 26, 2023 Great movie, very touching, nice to see some famous faces too. Part of the AFI top ten thrillers which is pretty generous. Bought in DVD. See more Read all reviews
