Huntin P @PaxVobiscum80 6 days ago Slow burn political thriller. I'll tell you, when The Jackal kills it is more deadly and dramatic than all John Wick's double-taps put together. Political terrorists hire a professional to ice Charles de Gaulle when their own efforts fail. An extremely spiffy Englishman (or is he?) arrives for the meeting, accepts the job as a once-in-a-lifetime challenge, charges accordingly ($500k) and starts his preparations. French intelligence gets wind of the operation and puts their best detective to work, in strictest secrecy. So how is The Jackal being fed so much confidential information? And why won't de Gaulle listen to his security team? This movie won't appeal to youngsters, but once you're over thirty it will impress and continue to impress with its patient and meticulous build-up. I've watched it a bunch of times, and I still can't figure out how he killed the lady in bed. See more Robert P @Superbad Sep 21, 2026 The Day of the Jackal = a 4.5 star Movie!!! See more Roy A @RoyBad Sep 6, 2026 This one of my Top 10 movies of all time. I am sometimes offended by the sappy music used in film scores, but this film uses only ambient sound. The acting is second to none, and the suspense has me on the edge of my seat even through repeated watching. My favorite verbal exchange in the movie: "How did you know whose telephone to tap?" "I didn’t, so I tapped all of them." See more nick S @Nick_S Aug 17, 2026 Could have had a bit more pizzazz in the fight scenes and the ending wasn't as good as it could have been. But that doesn't subtract much from this great movie. The sets were fantastic and the movie maintained tension throughout the runtime. See more Andrei U @RT90280993 Jul 17, 2026 Spotless plotting and really sharp editing, but the acting felt a little too stiff, and the cinematography looked older than the movie itself. Some of those shadow-drenched scenes had me wondering if I was watching something from the '50s instead of the '70s. That said, the film never lets go of the tension. Even when you know exactly how it'll end, it still has you chewing your nails by the final minute. See more Glafira Regina O @Glafira_Regina Jul 2, 2026 The main actor is handsome, but the film is definitely too long and has too many plot holes. If not for the frankly slow-witted heroes and tedious scenes created for the sake of plot extension only, one would spend half the time in front of a screen See more Read all reviews
