Critics Consensus

Melodramatic and weighed down with silly dialogue, Deuces Wild is a forgettable, overheated thriller that leaves no cliche unturned.

Maybe if the movie had left all the expensive period artifacts, and most of the hackneyed script, on the street corner and let its capable young cast loose, Deuces Wild would have offered the audience a more interesting game.

A repellent orgy of gratuitous violence and hackneyed melodrama, Deuces Wild marks a grim nadir for everyone involved.

It not only promotes every stereotype and invokes every clich of Brooklyn lore, it combines them all into an insulting composite, fuses that to the chrome-and-fins of the pointless Fifties, and then -- weirdly -- pretends it's Shakespeare.

Scott Kalvert's attempt at a gangster picture is the worst film of 2002.

It's full of sound and fury, and the ensemble tries hard, but mob boss Fitzy has it right: They're just kids who need to grow up.

This clichd tale of combative Brooklyn street gangs in the late 1950s gets it so wrong in so many ways, it's almost cruel to count them.

Great movie that doesn't get enough credit for what it is. I enjoy the 50s era dialog and setting.

This is an underrated timeless classic with an amazing cast. If you like street gang films then this is for you. I don't get why some people can't see the brilliance in this film. It's not perfect but it is an enjoyable watch. Stephen Dorf and Brad Renfro give a great performance as brothers in this film. Give it a chance. You'll dig it if you like movies like the Wanderers or the Lords of Flatbush.

I never understood why this movie gets so much hate. Does it reinvent the wheel? No it doesn’t, but it’s a very enjoyable film with a pretty stacked class that includes Stephen Dorff, Matt Dillon, Norman Reedus, Frankie Muniz, Drea de Matteo, Fairuza Balk, James Franco, Johnny Knoxville, Deborah Harry, and more. I love it.
