It’s simply an action film about a group of special forces operatives set in the relatively near future. And all the monsters are the product of genetic experiments and chromosomal manipulation. If a person was evil, the drug would turn them into a monster, and if they were good, it would grant them nearly superhuman powers. The cast is carried by the charismatic Karl Urban and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The graphics and special effects look on par for 2005, but the film lacked epic moments that would have best showcased them, since most of the movie takes place in dark corridors. The most striking moment of the film remains the first-person scene at 1:30:00, reminiscent of a video game. The final battle between The Rock and Urban is also quite exciting. See more Sagan C @RT46970597 Apr 9, 2026 Everything about this movie was simply great. Despite its age, the CGI was better than almost every modern film. There are unexpected twists. The characters are interesting. The aliens were believable. There wasn't gratuitous gore and the violence was well-measured. They were even ballsy enough to give the film a very solid nod to the actual FPS experience, which I thought was simply fantastic. I've never played Doom, but after watching the movie, I really wanted to... and that's how it should be.
