Using escape rooms as the foundation for a deadly competition immediately creates tension because every room introduces different puzzles, dangers, and rules. The changing environments keep the movie moving and maintain curiosity about what comes next. The biggest strength is the room design. The oven room, upside-down pool hall, freezing environment, and other challenges are visually inventive and provide the film's most memorable moments. Taylor Russell makes for a strong lead as Zoey, while Logan Miller brings personality and humor as Ben. The mystery surrounding the contestants and why they were chosen adds an interesting layer beyond simply surviving traps. However, the final act becomes less compelling as it shifts toward explaining the organization behind everything and setting up future films.
