Tired of feeling down about her weight, plus-sized 15-year-old Simi (Nina Katlein) heads to her aunt Claudia's house for Easter weekend. Claudia (Pia Hierzegger) is a popular nutritionist who's written best-selling health books, so for Simi, spending a few days together could help change her diet and inspire weight loss. What should've been a nice holiday weekend with family, however, quickly reveals itself to be anything but. Simi's cousin, Filipp (Alexander Sladek), is curiously hostile towards her, while Filipp's stepdad, Stefan (Michael Pink), is curiously the opposite towards Simi, all while Claudia's dietary guidance verges on becoming overly militant. What's causing everyone to act so strangely and aggressively? The answers are even worse than Simi's worst nightmares.

Easter weekend gets the horror treatment and the way this this film ends it is sure to rock you. Very well done suspense horror, that has moments or terror and sadist plot points. With good performances and building tone makes this memorable

The satisfying conclusion is always a solid way to end a film to keep it cohesive and when the plot comes together in a way that doesn't leave the audience empty or left wanting more. The tension and revealing timing and pace were excellent. The acting was top tier. You think you have ideas of what is going on and then it slightly throws you for a loop and reveals more to keep you interested and intrigued that there is more of the plot to delve into and digest. I was satisfied with many aspects of this film and recommend it to those who enjoy foreign horror.

An overweight teen girl decides to spend the Easter weekend with her aunt, a nutritionist with radical views on dietary habits. The family experiences awkward dynamics at the dinner table as the woman reveals an erratic behaviour towards her son and niece. This sinister family conceals a secret with horrifying consequences. "Family Dinner" is a slow-burn horror movie that truly culminates with an explosive and satisfactory ending. The movie does an outstanding job in creating a tense and eerie environment, with the food being presented in almost every scene as the epicentre of the narrative. The basic needs in a food chain are as impressive as the survival instincts of those involved in it. For some to eat... others have to be eaten!

Family Dinner is a good thriller with tension sustained throughout. It effectively keeps viewers in suspense regarding the intentions and thoughts of each character, rendering it psychologically sophisticated.
