While the family’s history is explained in sufficient detail, the depiction of the antagonist is extremely vague. It seems to gesture toward some form of state power, but too much is left to the viewer’s imagination. Visually, the film is mostly confined to flat landscapes and domestic spaces. There is a mild lift in the second half, but overall it remains dull. The four actors portraying the family each have strong presence and are genuinely compelling, which only highlights how little weight or clarity the "enemy" is given. Poetic films with less information can work, but poetic imagery requires a careful balance—one where sparse details still feel enough to explain the whole. Here, that balance is missing.
