b 6 @Blown.by.Bad 2d Because I can’t give zero, this has left a bad taste in my mouth I’d waited what has felt like an eternity to rewatch the saga finding lots of ups and a few downs to the first three movies. I assumed a crash but this burned hopefully I can rest easy with this franchise staying dead maybe a watch through the first three movies. That earlier story had the curse, the witchcraft, Shadyside’s past and a stronger sense of mythology; this film is not a direct sequel to that arc, and it feels much smaller because of it. As a standalone prom-night slasher, it has some fun: an 80s setting, a group of candidates, suspicion, blood and a few enjoyable kills. It is easy to watch and never truly painful, especially if you like the genre. Still, the characters are weaker, the story is more predictable and Shadyside does not feel as dangerous or fascinating as before. It works as light horror entertainment, but it falls short of the trilogy’s energy and purpose. See more Andre L. @ROTTENCORPSE May 17 Interesting enough this turned out to be the best in the series. The originals were too focused on checkboxes instead of good acting and on scene chemistry.
