Critics Consensus

Final Destination 2 is little more than an excuse to stage elaborate, gory scenes of characters getting killed off.

Pushing the limits of an R rating, this sequel to 2000's surprise hit starts with the blood dripping madly and then amps it up to levels as to now unseen in American horror. Go to Full Review Nev Pierce BBC.com Feb 4, 2003

The opening premonition is a series best and the deaths are killer (he he), but the expedited runtime means that the characters are shallow, their relationship to each other under developed, and many of them just kinda suck. It is magnificent, abiding by the more-is-more rule of follow-ups. It also hoodwinks us into a false sense of security that death can be cheated via the self-checked-in padded cellmate of Ali Larter’s returning Clear Rivers Go to Full Review Sharai Bohannon A Nightmare On Fierce Street Podcast May 23, 2025

This feels like a really bad made for TV movie with great kills. I’m happy some of the other sequels are stronger so we get rewarded for sticking it out. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

This unlocked a fear of log trucks in millennials that will never go away. The deaths are easily the best of the franchise. The story also probably top 2. See more Charles T. @CharlesGaming1000 Jun 2, 2026 Just as good as part 1…… See more Bret M. @BretM-3 Mar 12, 2026 And I thought the first Final Destination was good! But this one ups the ante so much and turns everything from the last movie up to eleven! First off, the intensity of the premonition scene is turned up in this movie compared to the first. The log truck scene is iconic for a reason. The effects are so good and the minimal use of CGI helps it look so horrifyingly realistic. Now I know why people are so scared of log trucks! The acting is also really good. I think all the actors work overtime to sell the fact that they really are scared of the impending doom and the fact that they know they will die. I also think the kill scenes are cool and surpass the first movie. There are so many elaborate yet gory ways that people die in this film. I also enjoy trying to guess how a person will die, especially during the apartment scene. Stuff like that just makes it more fun to watch these movies. Overall,I think this is an awesome sequel that surpasses the original in my opinion. See more Read all reviews
