Rambo travels to a small town looking for a friend, but the local sheriff doesn’t trust him and forces him to leave. Things escalate when Rambo is arrested and mistreated. Because of his traumatic war experiences, he reacts defensively and escapes into the nearby forest. From there, the story becomes a tense survival chase between Rambo and the police. See more Gareth E @Gareth1970 Jan 28 I realised I’d never seen this and just thought I should watch it as a fan of the Rocky films. We know more about PTSD today than we did then and while the film is clearly preposterous it’s a very good watch. Not just to fill in a gap in your personal movie history but because Stallone brings a genuine vulnerability especially in the first and last scenes. Genuine pace, classic action and once the action starts the adrenaline flows to the end. See more David S. @baxter667 Jan 21 One of the best films of the eighties, and has aged remarkably well. A dark, but interesting film, this excellent Stallone film, is by far one of his best films ever made. A good story, great villains, and a good action movie, it launched a franchise for better or worse, but as a standalone film, it's fantastic and I really like this one!!! See more Welll A @Azevader88 Dec 31 Este primeiro "Rambo" tem o foco no despreparo dos EUA para cuidar dos veteranos da guerra do Vietnã e no stress pós-traumático que esses ex-soldados traziam consigo, que é um tema que me interessa quando tratado no cinema. A atuação de Stallone foi outra boa surpresa, ele é muito convincente como o quebrado Rambo no início, assim como sua versão estratégica e mortal depois do primeiro ato. O único deslize, pra mim, é quando, no ápice do filme, ele dá seu discurso sobre as coisas que viu na guerra; ali ele canastrou. A truculência das autoridades ao não saber lidar com o protagonista, cria no espectador um senso de injustiça típico do melodrama, que gera uma empatia instantânea com Rambo. Quando considera-se que, no livro, ele ainda é um nativo americano, as barbaridades cometidas pelos agentes da lei ganham tintas racistas que tornam tudo ainda mais revoltante.
