Madam D @Madam1948 Sep 25, 2026 Unless you can watch this movie as a fantasy with a different attitude than I had, you won't enjoy it either. See more Jeffrey P @vanillavoodoo1 Jun 19, 2025 A very complex film to review, Flux Gourmet is very avante garde with intense revolting subject matter, and it repeatedly disengages the audience by switching languages. Given that, I was left waiting for the horror aspect to kick-in. Unfortunately, the horror never really takes hold beyond the atmosphere and tone, nothing really happens but flatulence and a buncha weird crap. See more Nic F @munitots Jun 7, 2025 This was my first Strickland movie, and I must say it stayed with me for several days and I did enjoy it. I felt like he borrows from several styles – large slivers of Peter Greenaway 90's arthouse movies, and Wes Anderson framing shots of buildings and scenes, lots of early 90's Almodovar shock and glamour, and sometimes humour. I thought it had a good set of points to make about the creative community and what clashing egos and power dynamics can do to evolve (or devolve depending on how you view it) art. I felt like a few points got made several times over though. Very well acted and interesting. See more Vince C @RT34940730 May 8, 2025 Pretty enjoyable, although, as often with Strickland, the ending circling with the beginning is confusing. In this instance [spoiler alert], we assume they are eating Elle, but then she appears in the audience. I'd have preferred it without. I've only watched it once. Maybe a second viewing will make more sense. And Strickland doesn't want it to be a comedy (I must rewatch Tampopo), but I'm not sure what it would be without comic reception. See more Alec B @Alec97 Feb 26, 2024 Perhaps the movie goes too far with its provocations (only then to pull the rug out from underneath the audience) however it is hard to deny how well Strickland and the actors capture exactly the right tone here. All of the characters take themselves so seriously while saying completely ridiculous things which is much funnier than if everyone was winking at the audience. See more Diana S @DianaWho Dec 19, 2023 Weird but good. Great characters and some good laughs. Also proves that a story can contain a lot of sex that's thematically relevant without the viewer being forced to actually watch it take place in graphic detail. See more Read all reviews
