I think Jake Abel was just excited to be the lead.

Fog of War is a misguided World War II drama that is polluted by a terrible screenplay and cringeworthy acting. It’s a weak and boring story about a U.S. military pilot sent to spy on the farm property owned by his fiancée's wealthy family.

Given all that’s wrong with the film, what’s really disappointing are all the hints that spoil the mystery. The plot-signaling makes Fog of War a film that compels you to fast-forward to the end just to see if your guess was right. Spoiler alert: It was.

Imagine a WWII movie where Wes Anderson directed the actors performances but did not direct the camera or production design.

Don’t waste your time. This is not a real movie as is evidenced by only three actual critic reviews even with John Cusack in it.

Wow breaks your heart to see John Cusack in something this low budget and awful. Historical piece with clearly zero money for any sort of production design to make it feel like a real movie.

Absolute snooze-fest that utilises the most over-used trope in spy/suspense stories that should only ever be used in the case of a true-story film. A strong cast is wasted on a script that thinks far too much of itself. The main fog here was in the scriptwriting

Annoyingly slow. Pompous John Cusack pretending he is an actor of gravitas, but he's just a dead weight. The young female lead's makeup must have been inspired by the the Rocky Horror Picture Show. If you can endure even half of this, you're a better man than me, Gunga Din.
