See more SkyRo P @TheMovieSearch Jan 22, 2025 "Freaked," a film released in 1993, centers around a toxic chemical that mutates individuals into what are dubbed "freaks." As the title suggests, the movie delivers exactly what you’d expect from that premise: it’s corny, cheesy, and somewhat laughable. Finding this film proved to be quite a challenge; I eventually managed to track it down on YouTube. Unfortunately, the movie suffers from poor writing and feels like a misguided attempt by the director to craft a quintessential 90s flick. While many films from that era have a certain charm—even the cheesy ones that manage to entertain and evoke a sense of nostalgia—this one simply doesn’t hit the mark. I can’t say I would want to watch "Freaked” again. To me, it came off as utterly ridiculous and nonsensical. However, I can see how younger audiences, particularly children or those in their early twenties, might find it amusing and entertaining. It’s not my preference, but the film does embody that classic 90s spirit filled with goofy antics that aim to keep viewers engaged and laughing. In that sense, it fulfilled its purpose for its time, but it hasn’t aged gracefully, leaving little impact for anyone who might stumble upon it today. If you’re in the mood for something humorous, you might give this film a try. Just be prepared to feel a bit dazed and foolish afterward, as its absurdity teeters on the edge of complete silliness.
