Aging Arius Green (Ben Keith) lives a quiet life on his Northern California ranch with his family, including his wife (Elizabeth Keith) ; son Earl (James Mazzeo), a struggling artist; and teenage granddaughter, Sun (Sarah White), a budding environmental activist. When a local police officer (Paul Supplee) is murdered, hordes of reporters descend on the town, destroying the Green family's peace. In lieu of dialogue, the actors lip-synch the lyrics of writer-director Neil Young's songs.

Without the sound track no one would give this the time of day, but the songs showcase Young’s band, Crazy Horse, in all its ragged glory. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Jun 22, 2011 Fascinating, primitive musical from Neil Young and his concept album Greendale. It's a bit thin at times, but when it works it's very beautiful and even inspiring. See more Jan 24, 2010 Perhaps to a true musician, this is brilliant but I didn't enjoy Neil Young's effort here. See more Jan 26, 2009 wacky-witty, eclectically brilliant :) See more Jul 4, 2008 I quite like Greendale, but is the album worthy of a spin-off film AND a spin-off graphic novel? I don't think so. This film is an interesting curiosity piece if you're a big fan of Neil Young, but I'm REALLY into his music and REALLY into films, and I still found this a bit of a struggle. The film was actually pretty much how I pictured it would be from the numerous times I've previously listened to the album, but the visuals to the lyrics were so much like how I imagined that it makes me wonder if there was really any point in making this film. See more Jun 23, 2008 FANTASTIC FOR ANY REAL MUSIC LOVER! See more Jun 3, 2008 Neil Young's great story of Sun Green, eco-terrorist... Great political undertones, awesome music. Give it a shot.
