It really seems these days that many film-makers think having good ingredients and good intentions are enough. It results in many lazy, perfunctory denouements like this one that just undercut everything that's come before. ATJ lit up every scene she was in, and I missed her when she wasn't on, an underused talent. All in all a waste.

Here Are The Young Men is a messy coming of age film. Easily the best part of the film is Anya Taylor-Joy’s supporting performance. She proves yet again she’s a star, and steals every scene she’s in. The rest of the acting is also solid, especially Dean-Charles Chapman in the leading role. I wasn’t a big fan of the direction. A lot of times it felt too over-stylized, and it distracted from the story. The characters are also too unlikeable at times, although it does make sense for the ending they go for. Overall, I’m pretty mixed on this. The acting mostly saves this from being bad, but I wouldn’t call this film good.
