Jun 27, 2016 Hockney is a great artist and this movie gives you some insight in to the artist and his work. The movie itself is kind of boring (2 stars) but I'll give it a bonus star because his artwork is very good. See more dave d @RT34924333 Jun 19, 2016 I guess it's fitting that an artist's story would be told mostly in art, pictures, and video. It helps prop up an otherwise uninspired documentary. Listening to his friends talk about David Hockney there isn't much that is inspiring about him. Nearly the entire two hours is quite surface. His art is wonderful, and by all accounts he appears to be a nice man, but I didn't need to sit through this and neither do you. For Hockney fans only and even they may not learn anything about the subject. Final Score: 4.3/10 See more May 5, 2016 I enjoyed much of the film and found it visually beautiful. However, I found it agonizingly long during the last 20 minutes or so. It could have benefitted from serious editing and perhaps a sharper focus on certain aspects of Hockney's life and work. See more Mar 15, 2015 What an unbelievable talent. Just watching this has made me in awe of this artist even more... The amount of different media he has used over the years... The concepts and ideas he has frivolously toyed with... Talent of extraordinary proportions. Fascinating documentary & very real. See more Read all reviews
