Critics Consensus

Bearing only the slightest resemblance to Isaac Asimov's short stories, I, Robot is still a summer blockbuster that manages to make viewers think -- if only a little.

Leaving aside the sub-Matrix hokum about Spooner's sweet-potato-loving grandmom, the movie humiliates itself - and embarrasses us - by the amount of time it spends plugging a glamorous car...

Though the material possessed the potential for landmark genre filmmaking, the result feels like two hours of product placement, so-so-special FX, too much comic relief, and non-acting from a star sleeping through his performance.

This is just a can’t miss Will Smith classic. This was a rewatch after decade and very timely with AI scares. There’s actually a lot of parallels to the current AI situation but anyways, besides that it’s just a great movie there’s a background mystery to solve there’s character arc there’s good acting and interesting premises. If your couch doesn’t come equipped with seatbelts think about it because you’re gonna wanna strap in for this one
