Critics Consensus

I'm Gonna Git You Sucka puts a satirical spin on '70s nostalgia with a comedy whose somewhat scattershot laughs are often offset by pure energetic silliness.

Unrelenting, unremitting, a brilliant broad-brush of a parody.

In many respects this is a black counterpart to The Naked Gun, and very nearly as funny; the bounty of antimacho gags is both unexpected and refreshing.

Perhaps it's youthful moxie or maybe blacksploitation is too fertile of a target, but the helmer's aim is true with "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka," which emerges as the best thing a Wayans has ever produced.

The sucka in this film isn't the villain. It's the ticket buyer.

A Blacksploitation Film about every Blacksploitation Film ever made. A period piece. A statement on societal decay and the systemic racism of the time... The seriousness of the acting sells the comedy! Rife with actors of African decent from all corners of 20th century pop culture, sports and entertainment! Proof that Isaac Haayes sings his own music. Exceptional viewing for any Women's Studies course.

I laughed the entire time during this hilarious, spot-on parody of the Blaxploitation era. This has great casting and brilliantly funny moments that I still quote today.
