Director/co-screenwriter Alex Woo and co-director/co-screenwriter Erik Benson don’t break new ground, but do know how to tell an appealing, family-friendly story.

“In Your Dreams” is built around great swirling mounds of imagistic energy, yet it feels secondhand at its core.

With its positive message of embracing adversity rather than shying away from it, the movie is perfectly suited for kids who make up the primary audience of this film.

The new fun characters like Baloney Tony and relatable leads going through real issues makes for the perfect formula that shows that projects full of warmth and heart go a long way – especially in a time like this when we need it most.

I haven't seen every animated film in 2025, but this one stands out as one of the best. Current predictions have this film not getting nominated at the 98th Academy Awards, but in my estimation it should.

Such a cute movie! Love the kids and the parents having problems really connected to relationships nowadays. And the main character was really relatable.

In Your Dreams isn't perfect. The animation, while not really bad, does have that stereotypical Pixar look to it that you'd be forgiven for thinking AI was used*. It also became clear to me in the third act that there was going to be a twist because not only is the solution handed to our heroes on a silver platter but "Dark is Not Evil" has been a common trope in animation for quite a while now making it clear that Nightmara's actions were for different reasons than we'd been led to believe. However, I still think it's worth checking out thanks to some good comedic timing, likeable characters and a story that gives younger audiences tough-but-fair life lessons. It's not the best animated movie of 2025 and it doesn't go as crazy with the dreaming premise compared to other media but it's enjoyable enough and, at least with regards to the subject matter, could be Mrs. Doubtfire for a new generation. *The new Netflix Animation Studios logo was quite nice. Didn't know they had new branding.

Middle of the road, just fine animation the doesn't seemingly do anything to special but isn't bad. Technically it's pretty good with Simu Liu and Cristin Milioti doing really good work as the parents and I likes the music and score beats. The story is inconsistent and just to rushed. At 85min, they could have afforded a little more time exploring the dream world. Overall the movie was fine

The plot was not that unusual. But, oh my, it was very pleasurable to watch with its funny animation and heartbreaking story.
