Critics Consensus

Knocked Up is a hilarious, poignant and refreshing look at the rigors of courtship and child-rearing, with a sometimes raunchy, yet savvy script that is ably acted and directed.

... Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl have great chemistry onscreen and they are hysterical together.

Although this story about a mismatched couple expecting a baby strains credibility and sometimes pushes the limits of good taste, it delivers plenty of belly laughs.

Funny, rude and with a heart of gold that surprisingly doesn't grate.

A decade-and-a-half after its release, Judd Apatow’s 2007 comedy Knocked Up is mostly known for a few controversies... All of those controversies have some merit. But that doesn’t mean the film itself deserves to be written off. (15th anniversary)

Judd Apatows gags are strewn with crude language and extreme behavior but his humor is all grounded in character and relationships and prickly moments of self-realization and guilt, and his cast mixes it up wonderfully.

Pretty darn funny movie with some gross-out elements to it. A TV producer becomes onscreen talent, goes out to celebrate, pulls a fuzzy bear slacker, and gets knocked up. Then, they try to make a go of it, despite being put off parenthood by the dismal example of her sister and brother-in-law. The two men, however, hit it off and when the women lose patience with them the guys sod off to Vegas for a getaway. Charming cameo by Harold "Spengler" Ramis as fuzzy bear's dad. This movie comes from those long ago days when Seth Rogen (Is it -en or -an; I always want to call him Joe) hadn't become a Hollywood bore, and before Katherine H. hadn't decimated her career on account of too much attitude. The sister is played, I believe, by the director's wife, in which case I feel a touch of pity for him. It's a portrait of people who act like children learning to accept that they are parents of children; and who knows, a child-like sensibility may be just the ticket for being mum and dad.

It's simply disgusting and unrealistic, even as a fiction it's just weird and bad

Still hilarious and holds up very well. Highly rewatchable and the two leads are absolute gold. I love this movie

See Rogen early in his career in this comedy about a one-night stand turned forever.

Absolutely hilarious from start to finish. The plot was very good as well. Cheering for Seth Rogen the whole movie and genially facepalmed over all of his dumb mistakes.
