While the holiday season represents the most magical time of year, ancient European folklore warns of Krampus, a horned beast who punishes naughty children at Christmastime. When dysfunctional family squabbling causes young Max (Emjay Anthony) to lose his festive spirit, it unleashes the wrath of the fearsome demon. As Krampus lays siege to the Engel home, mom (Toni Collette), pop (Adam Scott), sister (Stefania LaVie Owen) and brother must band together to save one another from a monstrous fate.

While this is not the most impressive movie I’ve seen, it’s damn solid and very full of Christmas feels. It’s got lots of fun characters, and enough creepy imagery and tension to keep you on your toes while sippin’ on some nog.

Watched this because my partner and I love Krampus…the legend, story, the whole idea… We’re upset to have spent $8 to rent it over a decade after its debut - it was SO stupid. It COULD have been good, but all I can say is it was really, really *really* dumb.

Watched it because several friends recommended this one — they watch it every year. Found the title and some of the reviews off-putting and gave it a chance. We absolutely loved it. Funny, and in parts scary (in a camp way) but also very well-acted with an excellent ensemble cast and a lot of details that make it worth watching more than once.
