S S @SShol Oct 1, 2026 This film will floor you. Understanding the controversy given the topic, this is among the best portrayals of Jesus in film history, and definitely the film that leaves me with the most thought-provoking musings long after the film ended. Highly recommend See more George P @GP266 Sep 18, 2026 I enjoyed this movie very much. I can see why it sparked the controversy that it did. But I don’t think that was the plan of scoresee l. It did make me think. It made me feel empathy for Jesus. Music was good. Again a thinking piece. This movie has it all (except actors of color portraying non-white people). It’s quite weird, gory, and filled with nudity, but so is much of what happens in The Bible. It’s certainly an interesting take on a well known story. Love that the Jesus and Judas actors both starred in movies with Madonna (who vied for the role of Mary Magdalene in this movie). See more S. O @Col._Angus Jun 2, 2026 Pretty great until the last half hour. What a weird ending. See more Christian M @chriss17eu May 29, 2026 Curiosity and personal distance made me approach 'The Last Temptation of Christ' with great anticipation, but Scorsese’s grounded and deeply human reinterpretation quickly left me emotionally disconnected. The film explores sin, doubt, temptation, and moral conflict through a vulnerable Christ, portrayed convincingly by Willem Dafoe, yet I never fully connected with him or the film’s message. Its insistence on love and faith as universal answers felt difficult to accept from my agnostic perspective, creating a constant emotional barrier. Visually, the muted colors, functional lighting, and slow pacing resulted in monotony rather than atmosphere. Still, I appreciate the film’s willingness to focus on the internal struggle of an individual burdened by something greater than himself. It is bold, thoughtful, and valuable — just not emotionally resonant for me. See more Blake- N @PBSAniDom May 16, 2026 The Last Temptation of Christ is a deeply thought-provoking and visually striking film that stands out as one of the more unique biblical adaptations ever made. It takes a bold approach to storytelling that invites reflection rather than simply retelling familiar events. The direction is powerful and patient, allowing the narrative to unfold in a way that emphasizes internal struggle and human complexity. The performances are grounded and serious, giving weight to the emotional and spiritual themes throughout. The atmosphere is intense and often contemplative, supported by strong cinematography and a haunting score. It’s the kind of film that lingers in your mind long after it ends, encouraging discussion and interpretation. Overall, it is a compelling and meaningful viewing experience that isn’t afraid to challenge expectations. I would rate it an 8/10 for its ambition, depth, and lasting impact.
