See more Blu B @RT43513976 Sep 3, 2025 A Classic Sports Action Flick. Really well made all around and very well directed to boot. It does a great job setting up the atmosphere and immersing you in the 24 hours Le Mans expierence. It's not an eggageration to say this is very close to a silent film in a sense. There is maybe total 10 minutes of dialouge and it's no until we get 30 minutes in roughly when we start getting any actual lines between characters. It has great buildup also to the green flag that lasts over 20 minutes also. It's extremely easy to follow and understands visual storytelling at a very high level for what seems like just another racing film on surface level. This film is 75%-80% straight racing and tons of racing action that never feels repetitive somehow. No false advertising here. You want racing? You got it. And it's really well done, very intense, and the fact it's the actual Le Mans looks so cool. The only problem here there is the absolute bare minimum of what is needed for character and really no growth at all. It's about the thrills and roar of the engines more than any deep commentary or character arcs at all. I think the big reasons it gets away with that so well is the fact all these events take place on the same event as the day progresses and it's all one location. So going between the two drivers it never feels jumpy in the slightest because of it. It's a real surpise you don't notice at first. Anyone who is a fan of the director, any actors in this, sports movies, wants to watch a movie about LeMans or an action flick should check this out. See more Liam D @Mediawatcher2003 Jul 1, 2024 It has great racing sequences and Steve McQueen was cool for an reason but his passion project doesn’t have an plot or characters whatsoever See more Tyler S @tylerking24 Mar 14, 2024 Overall, I like the concept they were going for. For the 1970s, I think they did the best they could. There were a few parts that I wish they talked about more, but I still understood the film. Not bad. See more Bill T @RT83364618 Oct 19, 2023 This is not a Bond thriller, it's 2001: A Space Odyssey for racing. It's not vapid entertainment, it's theater. This is ballet. A symphony. If you're looking for Vaudeville or a musical that explains everything to your face and avoids the big words, you're in the wrong place. Anyway, it's not possible. Don't get it? Tough. You meet this movie on its own terms or you don't meet it at all. And the terms are this: this is Steve McQueen's love letter to professional car racing. It's not a story about racing; racing is the story. Instead of a plot, you will get an experience. You will be put in the driver's seat, strapped in to a fat-tired, fuel-injected, road-hugging bomb screaming through the rain at night and melting asphalt by day. The true star isn't an actor but the road, the machines, the pacing and emotions of each stage of the event, both on and off the track. The photography is incroyable, the loving detail of it and the pacing reminiscent of Fantasia, another movie where plot must take a back seat to experience. Le Mans is the love song of an addict, praising the beauty of his drug and holding it up for all the world to see. Understand this, and you will understand the movie. See more Read all reviews
