Critics Consensus

Dazzlingly colorful and frenetic, Madagascar 3 is silly enough for young kids, but boasts enough surprising smarts to engage parents along the way.

Here is a family movie from which absolutely nothing is expected, and yet it's one of the week's best releases: a muscular, potent and very funny film.

Madagascar 3 isn't an emotional ride the way Pixar's films tend towards, but it's relentlessly goofy fun. Good for some laughs, I say take a small person and see what happens.

This is probably the best Madagascar movie in the trilogy. Not bad but not super great. Oh.. and you can’t forget: DA DA DA DA DA DA DA CIRCUS DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA AFRO, AFRO CIRCUS AFRO CIRCUS AFRO CIRCUS AFRO!

A super-fun circus adventure, full of color and with a frenetic pace. The real highlight is Captain DuBois—the villain is simply iconic and brilliantly carries the entire movie!

Best one of the trilogy, and it still wasn't that great. You can tell they really tried to give a stronger plot here, but it just didn't land for me like the creators were prolly expecting. Still not bad, just wished it was better.

Still brilliant! Seems it grows more with every iteration. Huge adventure this time around. Still very well written and directed. Cinematography still amazing and visually stunning, even more so than predecessors. Whole stellar cast still shines convincingly in character. Lots of action, silliness, sharp wit, calamity, lollygagging, drama, suspense, intrigue, emotion and frantic pace. Very entertaining and captivating, classic all the way ...
