We had just seen Spider-Man and I wanted something heavier — the kind of movie that makes you feel like you’re running out of air. Score: 3.5/5 It’s 3:30 a.m. They’ve fired Eric Dale. His associate Peter Sullivan solves the problem Dale couldn’t, and the firm realizes they have to sell everything before the market figures it out or they’ll be wiped out. It’s a fictional company, but clearly based on the lead-up to 2008. Zachary Quinto is strong under pressure. Kevin Spacey steals it as the long-time company man. The tension builds well, then levels out near the end. Worth watching if you want something intense and dialogue-heavy without the usual action movie noise. I’d watch it again. Too basic of a premise “models wrong, should we sell it all.” Its quality is found in its extreme isolation from the rest of the world both in setting, character, and plot. It's amazing how all our lives are at the mercy of these big financial corporations; many who have lives we can only dream of. Of course, you could also argue they have the biggest risks to take. I'll admit some of it went over my 'no good at maths' head, but you'll certainly get the gist. Sad, but not surprised to see the woman take the rap for it all. See more Read all reviews
