Gil Pender (Owen Wilson) is a screenwriter and aspiring novelist. Vacationing in Paris with his fiancee (Rachel McAdams), he has taken to touring the city alone. On one such late-night excursion, Gil encounters a group of strange -- yet familiar -- revelers, who sweep him along, apparently back in time, for a night with some of the Jazz Age's icons of art and literature. The more time Gil spends with these cultural heroes of the past, the more dissatisfied he becomes with the present.

It may not boast the depth of his classic films, but the sweetly sentimental Midnight in Paris is funny and charming enough to satisfy Woody Allen fans.

Midnight in Paris is a very unselfish and lovely approach to inspiration, love, and the written word. A must watch. Go to Full Review

This combination of whimsy and romance is, for me, much more successful than Allen's previous European city film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Go to Full Review

If the viewer is able to set aside their personal distaste for the creator, the film is a wonderful sit. If they cannot, then it steadily reminds them of the personality Allen curated for decades and that might just be a bridge too far. Go to Full Review

Shawan L @ShawanLLibang Jan 16 Midnight in Paris is one of those rare movies that feels like drifting into a warm, enchanting dream. It mixes nostalgia, romance, and artistic wonder with such effortless grace that you’re instantly drawn into its spell. The journey through 1920s Paris is captivating, the performances glow with sincerity, and the whole film radiates a cozy, comforting charm. It gently suggests that every era carries its own magic and that the beauty of the present is often right in front of us. See more Kevin P Dec 24 An incredibly charming modern-day fantasy about Paris and romanticizing the past of a bygone era. Owen Wilson is really likable as the main character Gil. The direction is very smooth and well-paced. I loved the gorgeous cinematography of the city of Paris. The soundtrack is so charming, cozy, and nostalgic with its smooth jazz and romantic French flare. The true premise was a surprising twist that it's about time travel in 1920's Paris. Rachel McAdams is great at playing the entitled and dismissive fiancé. I love Hemingway's banter. I like the discussed philosophy of story writing. There's a cool twist where Gil and Adriana go back in time even further and he realizes that every time period has nostalgia for the "golden age". He decides to break the cycle by embracing the present while never forgetting what truly makes you happy. The movie is like a warm dream fantasy you never want to end or wake up from. This movie is me. romancitising Paris in a smart way that would keep anyone engaged. Whilst the movie did lose me at times, I got right back into it! This movie was everything and yeah Paris makes everything more dreamier See more Randy D Nov 5 Absolutely delightful. See more Coni V. @conipsv Oct 12 A great idea, with some nice sentimentality but highly overrated movie. It’s a pseudo-intellectual and doesn’t really provide anything thought provoking to chew on besides the novel idea of “things in the past aren’t always as good as they seem.” The characters are flat and one dimensional, and Owen Wilson is an awkward fit for the nostalgic romantic role.
