Critics Consensus

Saddling an overqualified cast with a rote script, Old Guy's tired execution may leave audiences wondering whether it's time to put this concept out to pasture.

Worth seeing above all because of the valuable participation of [Christoph Waltz]. [Full review in Spanish]

Old Guy is always acted with commitment and Hoffman shows he has the chops for a bigger role. Three big names doing a professional job … but the target isn’t found.

You’ve probably seen this movie a few times already, but the two leads work hard to ensure that Old Guy can at least be a pleasant diversion on your next two-hour flight.

This is the kind of movie that ends up as streaming fodder, perfect for background noise on a weekend afternoon while you do other things.

The dynamic between Waltz, Liu and Hoffman is so good that you wish someone wrote their characters something more interesting than just another generic Simon West action film.

Old Guy is a paint-by-numbers buddy action comedy that is just entertaining enough to fill the time.

A refreshing take on a hitman for hire. Christof Waltz is excellent. I highly recommend.

Christoph Waltz does his best to hold this together. I have no idea what happened on the editing table but there is next to no character development. The story is so chopped up the movie makes no sense to me

I have to say this is the worst performance from Waltz I have ever seen - very disappointing -a very poor wannabe action movie

Well, what can I say. It's nice to see Lucy still being good-looking and Christoph doing a decent acting job in this story which never really offers any actual suspense or action, but it's still somehow entertaining. There are many very irrational situations, but one can enjoy them with a winking eye. It's surely not a must-see. 5/10 points.
