Wayne K @WayneKelso Sep 23, 2026 A story that you’re almost certainly familiar with even if you haven’t seen the film, Old Yeller, much like Bambi, contains a particular scene that traumatised an entire generation, and remains the primary reason for its legacy. For me the scene didn’t hit as hard as I imagined, maybe because its been talked about to the point of complete dilution, or because we’re not given a tonne of time to process it. At its core it’s a tale about how important pets are to a child and even a young adult, and while they may do things that irk you, their everlasting commitment to you and their desire to be with and help you at all times is why we form such strong bonds with our 4-legged friends. A well acted, authentically written period piece with a message that still resonates to this day. It is a simple story, but it hits with so much heart, warmth, and emotional power that it stays with you long after it ends. The bond between the boy and his dog feels real and deeply moving, and the film does an amazing job showing love, loyalty, and growing up. What makes it stand out is how honest it is. It does not rely on flashy effects or fake emotion. Instead, it tells a touching story with strong performances, beautiful scenery, and a powerful ending that truly leaves an impact. It is one of Disney’s most memorable live-action films, and easily a 10/10 for me. If you like this one, I recommend the book Where the Red Fern Grows. See more William L @RT72064152 Jan 4, 2026 I think this might be the best Disney movie that was ever made. I don’t know how in the world you could do better hi than this. Who could this not appeal to?
