Critics Consensus

Phantom Thread's finely woven narrative is filled out nicely by humor, intoxicating romantic tension, and yet another impressively committed performance from Daniel Day-Lewis.

Anderson has trouble coaxing this struggle to any sort of emotional climax; its fanciful, symbolic ending is the sort critics will praise for its careful ambiguity even as they overlook its narrative desperation.

Anderson makes movies that may refuse to explain themselves but nevertheless manage to engage the viewer, in part because he tends to cut from confined spaces to open ones as if inviting us to enter them.

Combined with a score by Jonny Greenwood...breathtaking art direction, and masterful direction, "Phantom Thread" presents one of the most disturbing and corrosive love stories in contemporary cinema. [Full review in Spanish]

A beautifully crafted, incredibly intentional film that doesn’t waste a single frame. The performances from Krieps and Day-Lewis will make you feel like you are watching a ceremonious dance performed by two highly seasoned veterans of the arts.

I’ll start off saying that Daniel day Lewis obviously does fantastic in this film he kind of actually reminds me of the killer in rear window in a way. Vicky Krieps also does fantastic in this, definitely one of my new favorite actresses. Her relationship with DDLs character is also great both characters are in a struggling relationship with each other especially Daniel’s character. The music is also one of the best parts of the film the piano and the violin (probably my two favorite instruments) and the cinematography to. 10/10

The thread of phantom. "Phantom Thread" is a brilliant, dark & entertaining movie about fashion & the dark sides. A lot of it fits everything. The acting is wonderful. Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) & Alma (Vick Krieps) have some captivating chemistry together. Given the big story, I love how they could be spouses & argue in situations. They should just belong together if they are as bad as each other. This means "The Devil Wears Prada" has nothing on this with a relationship at risk but it does not fall apart unlike Andy & Nate. The Movie is never unbearable with a great type of soundtrack - nothing but at least a piano composed by Jonny Greenwood. Enjoy the periodic dramas with FOCUS, comedy & romance.
