Wiktor M @RT79836860 Jun 9, 2026 Film critics absolutely HATE fun apparently because the average person would tell you that they had fun watching this movie. It features music by The Tiger Lillies (awesome band), the jokes are funny and the casting was fantastic. It has so much action to offer, it's shot really well and the music choices were awesome. Then I find out every famous person ever absolutely hated it. Roger Ebert basically said he didn't like it because of the lack of moral integrity, despite the fact that the movie is literally an action/comedy. It's not meant to have a lesson, it's just a fun movie. I don't think he knew what genre this movie was beforehand. Another complaint he had was that the soundtrack anachronistic, but that's not even something I'd bring up. Most movies have that and it's on purpose so who cares. It's like everybody is looking for something to hate about this movie but it's not that deep. It's a good movie and really not something to be pretentious about. I recommend. Not sure how this has such a small tomato score because it's a gem of a film. It's Robby Carlisle and Jonny Lee Miller at their best, Ken Stott and Michael Gambon doing what they do so well. Liv Tyler is superb in amongst the creme of British Comedy of the 1990s. Want Alexander Armstrong... he's here; Matt Lucas? Yup him too. I cannot for the life of me fathom how only one in four critics gave this the nod as it's a bloody great riot of fun. See more David L @RT85619132 Nov 29, 2024 Under appreciated gem of a movie. Very entertaining from start to finish. Well acted and directed. See more Maria A @MimiLaMala Jun 30, 2024 I don't understand why this film doesn't have a higher rating. It's not for the faint-hearted, sure, but the story is captivating, the cast is superbe, and the cinematography and the music punctuate the story in a way that's beautiful as it is haunting. I would highly recommend it if you want a film that's a bit different, but an exciting watch nonetheless. See more Aug 27, 2020 This is an issue of style over substance. Only it's not all THAT cool to look at... It's a costume drama/adventure made for the MTV generation. So it tries a little too hard to be cool, but doesn't succeed most of the time... See more Mark G @RT38303149 Jan 31, 2020 Basically unwatchable. Filmed like a low budget pop video. I only watched the first 15 minutes and then decided my life was too valuable to waste any more time watching the equivalent of a 1st year undergraduate film project that maybe scraped a low 2nd. The only virtue of this film is an undeserved soundtrack by Craig Armstrong that has been frequently re-used on TV shows, in particular Top Gear. See more Read all reviews
