Upon receiving reports of missing persons at Fort Spencer, a remote Army outpost on the Western frontier, Capt. John Boyd investigates. After arriving at his new post, Boyd and his regiment aid a wounded frontiersman, F.W. Calhoun, who recounts a horrifying tale of a wagon train murdered by its supposed guide -- a vicious U.S. Army colonel gone rogue. Fearing the worst, the regiment heads out into the wilderness to verify Calhoun's gruesome claims.

The pacing, suspense and Native American folklore draw you in, the soundtrack and setting are horribly eerie, but the performances and psychological aspect are what made me hunger for more after it was over. I appreciated how behind every decision there is skeptical reasoning, but in the end, it is left to instinct and thirst. Better yet, this movie was directed by a lady, which I love to see for the horror genre!

Haha what a film. 58% from the critics, that's at least 32% too low. Another great example of why you can't trust wokey woke critics ! I loved every minute of it. There are so many different layers to the film and it is such a unique ride. You kind of predict what is going to happen and you are never completely right. When you add in the banging soundtrack it completes one of the best horror movies you will ever see. Damon Albarn can certainly make a tune. Watch it. Do it now.

Ravenous is underrated by critics because they only like films of a certain formula that tend to be boring and predictable. This film is more than satire and has many elements that add to the ambiance, plot and characters. Female director with only one female character that understands that all the men are crazy. Group of war rejects put in one camp together. What could go wrong? Soundtrack is stellar and adds to the creep value. If you like horror period pieces and men lusting over human flesh then you will love this film.

I can't believe how many 'top' critics get it so wrong and miss the metaphor. And it's not even a hidden metaphor, it's HIGHLIGHTED in the dialog; e.g., Ives says, "Manifest Destiny. You know, come April, thousands of gold-hungry Americans will over those mountains, on their way to new lives, passing right through... here." And, it's a great movie - the pace is perfect, the music is incredible, and the metaphor is spot on.
