Gayle B May 30, 2026 Love the recent showing of classic musicals. Went to see An American in Paris, Singin in the Rain, and The Phantom of the Opera (2004). All enjoyed very much. Beautiful and entertaining films. See more Eric J Jan 30, 2025 Delightful movie, made the old fashion way. No computer graphics, no explosions, no improbable stunts. Plenty of singing, dancing, and humor. Overall a very entertaining, upbeat movie. I dont think ive ever smiled so much over the course of a movie before. See more Timothy T @tntompkins27 Sep 16, 2026 The transition from silent to the “talkies” in the 20s is a fascinating one to me. It was a rapid shift that ended up being very expensive for studios. From a filmmaking standpoint, it was technologically challenging to navigate. Though this story focuses more heavily on the toll many actors of this revolutionary shift took, where many silent acting was always heavily exaggerated making for a more awkward interpretation with sound in the equation. Dialogue needed to sound more natural—which also meant films needed to be written differently with audible dialogue and sound affects in mind—making it difficult for these actors with unsuitable vocals, weak projection, or strong accents to keep their careers afloat (we see a more exaggerated take of these events though these characters, even more so with Lina Lamond). Singin’ in the Rain pokes makes this a satirical musical of these events in a very stylistic manner. The choreography is fantastic, and the cast absolutely kills it.
