Critics Consensus

Mocking the pressures of matrimony with a sly wink, Sister Midnight is a thrilling genre-bender that's impossible to predict.

If you want to see a talented director putting together pieces of a vision — however unclear — and an actress with the courage to leap with him into the unknown, “Sister Midnight” is worth your time.

One of those films that deserves to be seen without knowing much about it, because of its unhinged and eventually violent twists, but always supported by a surprisingly colorful aesthetic. [Full review in Spanish

Karan Kandhari’s sophomore feature is an incorrigibly funny, and audaciously told genre bender that boasts—for lack of a better term—a certain singular je ne sais quoi.

In a creatively barren phase for Hindi cinema, Sister Midnight is a rare spark. Defying market norms and genre traps, it reaffirms the joy of watching films and reiterates the medium's potency.

Definitely didn’t know what I expected but definitely was rewarded for that. Beautifully shot and moved wonderfully. Strong acting and sets!

One of the most original films you will ever see. Quirky, odd, funny, and unique.

It was a fun movie, but moved slowly. It never resolved how she became… herself. I would’ve liked to see her more in her punk era. Hopefully there will be a sequel.

Director seems completely uninformed. Wikipedia had to tell me that it's a dark comedy. worst ever. It perhaps a colonial era mindset British director just trying to get grant to belittle some fantasized Indian societal construct and use the earning to visit Epstein Island.

I genuinely don’t understand whether i have watched a masterpiece or a clownfish movie because I didn’t understand the movie in most scenes but the camera work by Sverre Sordal was ridiculous.what kind of stuff was that, man its too good and the movie traumatised me in few scenes and I don’t even have enough words to express my genuine emotion.kudos to the director Karan Kandhari for this movie and last but the most important Radhike Apte, she is terrific man how well she managed to deliver such a tough character with ridiculous ease.
