Critics Consensus

Skin could stand to go a bit deeper below its surface, but a worthy story and a committed performance from Jamie Bell make this timely drama well worth a watch.

Bell is magnetic in the role, and there's real chemistry between him and Macdonald, but the film's formal glossiness and frequent overhead shots create distance between the viewer and the hate crimes on display.

Watching his journey from figure of oppression to family man is made all the more gripping with Bell and Macdonald’s chemistry, and two refreshingly disgusting turns from Bill Camp and Vera Farmiga.

Skin is more interesting when it chooses to film violence frankly, to face the complexity of life without naive or well-intentioned apriorism. [Full Review in Spanish]

It has a powerful start, but in the second half it loses strength with his text on tolerance, inclusivity and redemption. [Full review in Spanish]

Not the most insightful movie on the neo nazi movement but an interesting story of redemption for a lost soul. Jamie Bell is excellent as the tattooed skinhead.

The film Skin is well made overall and has a strong message, but unfortunately it is also very predictable. The story follows a familiar "bad guy meets good girl" pattern, so there are not many surprises. Still, the acting and atmosphere are convincing, and the film manages to stay interesting despite its predictable plot.

Terrible movie: acting was forced, script and sentences tried too hard. Characters spoke new sentences that would never naturally occur. Editing style changed midway into movie, there were no chapter texts for the first half then texts appeared multiple times in the later half. What a terribly one sided racist movie depicting the kkk as drunk incestual low lives. I love a good skinhead flick, Green Room is great. This one was terrible and came off extremely propaganda like. Certain elements rang true but as a movie it didn’t pan out well. Could not recommend ever. Wish i could unearth it because im left extremely disappointed with my two hours I’ll never get back. Unsure how this could be rated above 2/5 max

This movie had my complete attention. It’s wild to believe that there are people out there that are like this. Very well ordered it didn’t know till the end that it was based off a true story.
